You are in theRight Place

You have a business, a brand, or an organisation. You know it can grow. But you are not sure where to begin with your branding and design.

That is normal, and I hear it all the time. You do not need to have it all figured out. You just need a clear path.

I am Buchi Diamond, and I run Smardein. I help startups, small businesses, entrepreneurs, B2B companies, NGOs, nonprofits, and established companies build brands that look professional and feel trusted.

Your step by step path

Below is the path I recommend. Follow it in order, and each step will make the next one easier.

To keep things clear, I will use a perfume brand as a quiet example along the way. But these steps work for any type of business. If you run a service company, a digital product, an NGO, or a consulting firm, you can follow the same path. Some steps may not apply to you, and I will point those out.

  1. Step 1: Clarify your brand idea

Before any design starts, you need to know what your brand is about. This is the foundation for everything else.

    Ask yourself:

    • Who am I trying to reach?
    • What do I offer, and why does it matter?
    • How do I want people to feel when they see my brand?
    • What makes me different from others in my space?

ExampleThe perfume owner decides they are making calm, modern scents for busy professionals who want to feel confident.

If you cannot answer these yet, do not worry. This is exactly what we can work out together.

  2. Step 2: Build your brand identity and logo

Once the idea is clear, we give it a face. This is where your brand starts to look like something real.

Brand design covers your colours, fonts, style, and the overall look and feel. It is the set of rules that keeps your brand looking the same everywhere.

Logo design gives you the mark people will remember you by. A good logo is simple, clear, and works in big and small sizes.

ExampleThe perfume brand gets a clean logo, soft neutral colours, and an elegant font that matches the calm feeling of the scents.

  3. Step 3: Design your packaging

    Only if you sell products

This step is only for businesses that sell physical products. If you run a service business, a digital business, or an organisation that does not ship products, you can skip this step.

Packaging is often the first thing a customer touches. Good packaging makes your product look worth its price and helps people remember you.

If you sell products, this usually comes right after your logo and brand design, before your other graphic materials. Your product has to be ready to sell before anything else.

ExampleOnce the logo and brand design are ready, the perfume brand designs its bottle label, box, and shipping bag first, so everything matches the brand.

  4. Step 4: Create your graphic materials

Now you need materials to show your brand to the world. This is where graphic design comes in.

Depending on your business, this can include:

    • Social media graphics
    • Business cards and letterheads
    • Flyers, brochures, and posters
    • Company profiles and presentations
    • Banners and signage

Pick what you actually need. You do not need everything at once.

ExampleThe perfume brand already has its logo, brand design, and packaging ready. Now it adds social media posts and simple cards to include in orders.

  5. Step 5: Build your website

Your website is your home online. It is where people go to learn about you, trust you, and take action.

With web design, I build a site that fits your brand and is easy to use. It can be a simple page that explains what you do, or a full site with a shop, bookings, or a donation page. What it looks like depends on your goals.

ExampleThe perfume brand gets an online shop where customers can browse and order.

Not selling products? Your site might show your services, tell your story, or help people contact you or book a call.

  6. Step 6: Launch and grow

Now it is time to show up. Share your brand, tell people about it, and keep your look consistent everywhere.

As you grow, you can add new materials, update your website, or expand your brand. Because the foundation is strong, growing is much easier.

ExampleThe perfume brand launches with a clear look, a ready website, and matching social media. When new scents come out, the design is already in place.

Why invest in visual branding before you launch

You can launch without a plan, but it often costs more in the long run. Here is why I believe branding first is the smarter move.

First impressions matter

People judge your brand in seconds. A clean, professional look makes a strong start.

It builds trust

When your brand looks serious and well cared for, people feel safer buying from you, working with you, or supporting you.

It keeps you consistent

When your logo, colours, and style match everywhere, people remember you faster.

It helps you stand out

Many brands in your space look the same. Good design helps you look like yourself.

It saves you money later

Fixing a weak brand after launch means redoing logos, websites, and printed materials. Doing it right the first time costs less.
